Have you been to a public high school? The learning system is so different than our charter school. The Harbor Method was founded by Mrs. Rebecca Stallcop, to improve the students learning environment. Here are the six main reasons why I believe Mrs. Rebecca Stallcop's method is more successful than other school methods:
1. Accelerated Curriculum- The curriculum is college preparatory for everyone. Students perform skills that they are expected to master as well as stretch to. These stretch skills are repeated throughout the year and into the next grade level.
2. High Expectations School Wide- All teachers teach to the high end of ability to develop the competencies of all students.
3. Personal Attributes for Life- All education at the school helps students develop personal attributes and work habits that will serve them well in school and beyond in their careers.
4. Proactive Training for Conduct- Expectations for behavior are taught , practiced, and modeled consistently across all grades.
5. Recognition and Reward- Students are recognized for their academic accomplishments, their attitudes, and work habits.
6. A Safe Learning Environment- Teachers create environments in which students feel safe to succeed and to fail.
From my personal experience the Harbor Method has more of a solid foundation.
Before coming to Taylor's Crossing I had a hard time learning, because the way the teachers taught was not centered on teaching the student, but getting through the class. Here the school feels more student based. The teachers have a better idea on what they are teaching. I am allowed to excel in my education, I'm not stuck just to required grade classes. I have found that students are more productive in learning than just sitting and listening to lectures.
With all these benefits in the school you may have a chance in a better education than what other school can offer.
