The Selection Series - Kiera Cass
The Selection is a trilogy set in the future version of the United States. After World War III, society is set up in a completely new way: casts are introduced based on your contribution to the war and the United States gets the new name Illéa, after the new king Gregory Illéa. Once you are in a caste, you can only get in a higher caste by marriage, but easily fall down to the poor, homeless eight caste.
America Singer is a born five - making her family artists. Their income isn't high, but they can manage. She is in love with Aspen Leger, a Six. On his advice she signs up for the Selection: a competition between 35 girl to marry Prince Maxon and thus become a One. By some miracle, America ends up in the 35 names and leaves everything she knows behind and moves to the palace. As she gets to know Maxon, she slowly falls in love with him, but she is still not over Aspen. While America tries to figure out who she is and who her heart belongs to, danger is waiting outside the palace walls, where the rebels try to overthrow the monarchy and kill everyone who gets in their way. |
Lea Salonga
Lea Salonga is a singer from the Philippines and has been on stage for the last 35 years. She made her stage debut at the age of seven and her West End debut as the original Kim in Miss Saigon when she was only 18. She received an Olivier Award for the role in 1989 and, after the show had opened on Broadway in 1991, a Tony Award.
In 1993, she was the first Asian ever to play the role of Eponine in Les Miserables on Broadway. She played the role again in 1995 at the 25th Anniversary Concert in London. |
